At the beginning of the 20th century, there were few limits on immigration. Chinese immigrants, however, were excluded. America’s economy was strong and the nation was growing, capable of supporting large amounts of immigrants. However, many Americans viewed this huge influx negatively, and began advocating for more restrictions on immigration.
